New methanol-hybrid tug: the SA-100 by Glosten

news-details

Glosten and technology partner ABB developed this future-ready 90-ton assist tug to provide operators with a viable path to carbon-neutral operations—one that prioritizes cost and risk factors without compromising performance.

Thoughtfully designed to measure under 100 gross registered tons, the 100-foot ASD tug is powered by two Caterpillar Inc. dual-fuel methanol 3500-E Series gensets delivering electrical current to twin L-drives. Supplemental battery banks enable peak shaving during general operation and zero-emission operation when running light, and provide an additional “boost” when full bollard is required.

The SA-100 methanol-hybrid is an adaptable, sensibly designed ship assist tug that provides operators with a viable path to carbon-neutral operations while minimizing business risk and enhancing competitiveness.
